Users can Create Debates!

Posted Sat, 27 Oct 2007

I've added a major new feature to the site. Users can now create new debates by clicking the 'Create Debate' link at the top right of the page (once logged in). Hopefuly this will mean that there are always new debates to keep everyone entertained. If you have an idea for a new debate, then please make use of this feature--it will be much appreciated! If you would like to comment on this new feature, then please make use of this debate or contact me.

Front Page Redesign

Posted Sat, 13 Oct 2007

As you can probably see, the front page has been re-designed a little. Rather than a simple news feed in the right hand column, you should now see an aggregated news feed that combines news, new debates and recent arguments. This should make the front page more interesting than a simple jumping off point.

The corresponding news feed is a great way of keeping  an eye on site activity. You can easily scan through new debates and arguments and only visit the site when you see something that interests you. If you are new to news feeds I can highly recommend the free sofware Feedreader 3 for Windows, but you can use any similar software or an online reader such as Google Reader. Just copy the following link in to your feed reader:

Sold Out To The Man

Posted Wed, 10 Oct 2007

I have enabled Google ads for this site. I think they are subtle and not too numerous, but if think otherwise you can give me a piece of your mind in the Despicable Character debate.

Voting on Your Own Arguments

Posted Sun, 07 Oct 2007

You can vote on your own arguments if you want to. Its not a competition, so there is no harm in it. So go ahead and give yourself an honest vote after you submit an argument. Or give yourself an automatic +2 if you want to!

A Cadre of New Debates

Posted Sat, 06 Oct 2007

Submitted for your approval. A cadre of new debates. War of Paper discusses a delicate topic, but we are all adults here. 12 Angry Men discusses the pros and cons of making a stand for something you believe in (or don't believe in). Trek or Wars pitts the nerdiness of two groups against each other. Free Will makes the case that we are all soulless automotons. Zombie Cellar may save your life one day, so please read it. And finally Red or Blue Pill re-hashes Neo's dilemma.

That's it for now. Suggestions always welcome.

Voting Possibly Fixed

Problems with Voting

There is a technical issue with the voting. You may see some impossible scores and rankings. It will be fixed soon as possible...

New Debates

Posted Tue, 25 Sep 2007

I have added some new debates. The Social Bookmarking is Fundamentally Flawed debate is a blatant attempt to attract attention from social bookmarking sites (oh, the irony). There are two moral dilemma type debates; Telepods of Doom and The Overcrowded Lifeboat. Finally there is a tricky philosopical question and a mathematical curiosity; All Human Behaviour is Motivated by Greed, and All the Nines.

I'll be adding more soon. Suggestions are more than welcome!
